November 2012 Entry Level Smartphone Buyers Guide
This is one of the most interesting buyers guides I have ever written. I feel like a page has been turned in terms of access to decent smartphones. This month I am brining down the "entry level" category to those priced under 12K, but this month half that budget is really more than enough.
Prices indicated are for phones with a manufacturers warranty.
1. Cherry Mobile Flare (Php3,999)
The Cherry Mobile Flares packs a 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800) display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, on a MSM8255 chipset. Basically, this is the same hardware that you get on a HTC Desire X which cost three times as much.The phone comes out of the box with Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich. It is unlikely that this phone will receive and update to Anrdoid 4.1/2, Jelly Bean, but it does not really matter. Android 4.1 bring things like Google Now, which is little use inte Philippines. Android 4.2 adds advance camera features, like 360 panorama. But in terms of app compatibility, what is important for a phone to remain viable for the next two years is that it runs on the newer Android 4.x operating system.
The only thing you do not get from this phone is HD video capture.

Basically, I would consider this phone a good deal at double it price. At Php3,999 it provides unprecedented value. Even with more than double the budget, these really is nothing below 10K which is worth buying instead of this.
2. Cherry Mobile Titan (Php6,499)
This phone is powered by a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor on a Mediatek chipset. The PowerVR SGX531 graphics gives this phone enough power to do 720p HD video capture. The phone supports two SIMs. Like the flare, this phone comes with Android 4.0.4 out of the box so it has the software department pretty well covered.
Like the Cherry Mobile Flare, it is amazing value for money option. You have to spend three times as much money to get a better monster phone.

If I was buying a phone this month, I would happily pick up this one and not aspire for anything more.
3. Lenovo P700i (Php10.990)
Those wanting more power than the Cherry Mobile Flare and who find the Titan too massive may want to look at the Lenovo P700i. This is essentially a 4-inch version of the Cherry Mobile Titan. It is almost double the price though, so if you can manage the size and heft of the Titan, I recommend that phone instead.You can find out more about the Lenovo P700i at this link.
4. Sony Xperia go (Php11,990 - Php13,990)
Want low cost, dual core power and a catchy brand? The Sony Xperia go is might be what you are looking for. The Sony Xperia go has a decent sized 3.5-inch display. It HVGA (320 x 480) resolution is lower than all the cheaper phones covered in this guide, but HVGA looks fine on a 3.5-inch display, so it is not an issue. The real issue is the screen size. Is 3.5-inches still big enough these days>

My Life
I am Alexies Iglesia. I am the owner of this blogsite. I am not a grammarian, I am just a simple person who wants to write his dream inside his imagination and make it a Reality. Ginawa ko tong post na to para someday pag nakamit ko na yung mga goal ko, makita ko na somewhere in my past ay nangarap ako. Kung magtagumpay man ako, makikita ko na eto ung pinagsimulan ng lahat at ipaalala naman sa sarili ko na may mga pangarap akong dapat makamit kung magfail man ako sa di ko makamit mga goal ko sa tamang time.
Pinanganak ako sa New Kalalake sa Olongapo City ngunit lumipat kami sa Bataan nung maggrade 2 na ko at doon ko na ko lumaki at nagkaisip, nangarap at nagmature.
Hindi na ko nakakapunta sa lugar na yon, ang balita ko medyo magulo na daw don pero base sa pagkakaalala ko paraiso skin yon. Nagagawa ko lahat ng gusto ko noon, siguro dala ng pagkabata kaya wag ka ng magtaka kung may mga nkakadiri mang bagay na maikwkwento ko kasama ang sandamukal na kalokohan.
Tuwang tuwa ako noong bata pa ko kapag baha, yun yung time na hindi pa ko nagaaral at naiinspire sa mga napapanuod ko sa TV lalo na sa Sineskwela. Oh pustahan alam mo din yun. Siguradong kilala mo si agatom, palikpik at ugatpuno pati na rin siguro yung palabas na matinik at epol apol at ang sandamukal na anime at cartoons tulad ng Gundam win, Thunder jet, Bananas in pajamas. Voltes 5, Lupin 3, Trigun, Flame of Reca, Ghost fighter, BTX, Blue Blink, Teletubbies (oi kalokohang di mo napanuod yan hahahaha), Lupin the III at iba pa. At siguradong may idadagdag ka pa dyan, at kung naruto, onepiece at fairytail lang alam mo eh ibenta mo na yung kaluluwa mo, hindi ka para dito at di tayo magkakaintindihan nyan hahaha joke. Pero kung may alam ka pa message mo nalang sakin para maalala ko na din hehe.
Noong ng bata pa ko at di pa nagaaral, kapag naiiwan ako sa bahay dahil pumapasok na mga kapatid ko sa school minsan may mga laro akong kakaiba lalo na pag umuulan. kumukuha ako ng straw at iniisip kong tubo yon. Naghuhukay ako sa tabi ng kanal, isang butas na mas mababa pa sa dinadaluyan ng tubig. pagdudugtungin dugtungin ko ang mga straw para makabuo ng mahabang dadalayan ng tubig sa kanal. ("Hoy! wag kang tumawa dyan. sabihin nalang natin mahilig lang ako magexplore"). Ok tuloy na natin. Yon nga. pag napagdugtong dugtong ko na yung mga straw, hahayaan ko syang dumaloy sa hinukay ko. pag nakita ko ng umaagos yung tubig galing sa kanal papunta sa hinukay ko eh tuwang tuwa na ko noon, bata eh, mababaw na kaligayahan.
Siguro sa hilig ko na din sa Sineskwela kaya minsan yung mga nakkwento sakin ng mga kuya ko tungkol sa pagdisect ng palako eh ginagawa ko noon, may gaaaaaad. kinder palang ata ko noon at pang-umaga klase ko. kapag hapon at walang pasok may batas na dapat matulog sa hapon. Pag tulog na yung tita linda ko na bantay ko eh tumatakas ako. Sakto!! umaambon ambon noon at ang daming maliliit na palaka. kumuha akong dos por dos at pinalo yung palaka, ayon. . . . . . patay! Doon ko lang naalala na sabi ng kuya ko dapat buhay yung palaka at tinutusok ng karayom. Gamit ang state of the arts kong gamit panghuli, ang aking kamay ay nakahuli ako ng isa pang palaka. Hinanap ko kagad ang lalagyanan ng mga karayom sa bahay. nakakuha ako ng apat na karayom at agad tinusok yung palaka. Naawa ako noon pero gusto ko talagang makita kung anong mangyayari kaso wala naman eh. bigla nalang nangisay kaya di ko na tinuloy.
Ang lugar namin sa bandang New Kalalake eh parang palaging may great flood. Tuwing tag-ulan umaapaw ang ilog. Yung sa katapat bahay namin na likod lang nila eh yung ilog na dumadaloy na papuntang first gate hanggang dagat ay tuwing hapon lumulubog yung lote nila sa likod. At syempre ako naman etong si ungas, eh gustong gusto yun. Ilalabas ko na yung mga ginawa kong papel na bangka at palalanguhin sa tubig pag nagsawa naman eh mamato ng bubong ng bahay nung kapitbahay hahahaha. Oo alam kong adik adik ako noon haha pero ang saya saya ko non na parang walang problema lahat. Iniisip ko noon bakit sinasabi ng mga magulang ko na maswerte ako kasi walang problema, ang hindi nila alam ang damin kong problema tulad nung sinapak ko sa skul siguradong gaganti yun at isasama nya pa yung tropa nyang si vegeta at majinbo para rumesbak. Iniisip ko noon na mas maswerte ang matatanda kasi ang dami nilang pera, mabibili nila lahat ng laruan at kendi na gusto nila.
Noong bata pa ko may crush ako, si mimi, 5 years old palang ata ako noon. Crush ko sya na hindi ko alam kung bakit ko sya crush, basta kasi sabi ng kuya ko crush ko sya kaya yon, crush ko na sya. Pag nakikita ko sya tuwang tuwa ako noon. Bumili ako ng kendi at binigay ko sa kanya tapos biglang may himintong tricycle sa tapat namin, nagbaba ng pasahero.At syempre ako nman to si tange eh nagpasikat. Naglambitin ako sa likod ng tricycle, pasikat eh, anjan kase si crush. Kaso nakita ako ng driver, bigla nyang hininto. Sa lakas ng impact hindi ko tumilapon ako paharap at nabitawan ang pagkapit. Nahulog ako sa lupa at tumawa si crush. Simula noon di ko na ginawa yon uli at sabi ko sa kuya kong sulsol. ayoko na kay mimi, may topak yon.
(Hindi pa tapos at hindi pa naedit, wala lang ako magawa ngayon kaya nagawa ko to. hehe)

Thomas tested 20 anti-malware programs, from free to paid, against 188 Mac malware samples and compared the results. If youre looking for the best options in Mac anti-malware, his article is an excellent place to start.
I was pleased to see that Integos Virus Barrier topped this list. It remains my favorite of the paid anti-malware applications for both usability and the dedication of their staff to Mac security. But I must point out that Sophos free single-user anti-malware application did very well. Sophos also remains dedicated to Mac security.
I continue to be disappointed that the ClamAV project doesnt take Mac security entirely seriously. Everyone involved with ClamXav has done and still does their utmost to get every possible Mac malware signature into ClamAV, several times over. That includes Mark Allan and friends, such as Thomas Reed and myself. *sigh*

If youre going to pour over their most recent testing chart, I suggest downloading its PDF first as it can be very annoying to read via web browsers.
I find some of the samples in Security Spreads testing to be unusual if not silly. For example, the Opener script was never anything but a concept. It never qualified as actual malware. The list also offers no malware strain delineation. Then theres the inexplicable inclusion of anti-malware application MacKeeper, which I would never recommend as an option due to their predatory, deceitful marketing strategies as well as consistent reports of it being more deleterious than helpful to Mac usability. As usual, it pays to shop around and compare malware lists, test results and the reputations of the folks doing the testing.
Anyway, its good to see Integos Virus Barrier again was at the top of the list in Security Spreads testing.

This list is by no means complete! The list of Mac OS (pre-Mac OS X) malware is worthless. Nearly 50 malware are missing. (o_0) Many of the listed OS X era malware were mere proof-of-concept malware, never found in the wild. Again, there is no listing of malware strains is provided. Their naming protocol for malware is incomplete and provides no transmission vector indication. And so forth. But its a list of sorts and is therefore sort of useful.

I keep my own personal list of OS X malware, but it too is not perfect. I keep it in order to have a historical count of Mac malware as well as to provide a file system where I can store related malware articles as I find them. However, Ive discovered that posting such a list is beyond the intentional scope of this blog, so I no longer bother to collate it for public viewing. Instead, Thomas Reed and I share notes and I leave the public list maintenance to him. (Thank you Thomas!)
Another drawback about such lists is that, with time, malware becomes inert on various versions of OS X. For example, anyone with OS X 10.6.8 and above has Apples XProtect system installed as part of the system. XProtect has made a vast variety of OS X malware inert. This means that for those versions of OS X, theres very little active malware in the wild. The only reason I posted this article about CoinThief.A is that XProtect has not yet (as of this moment anyway) been updated to identify it on Mac systems. CoinThief.A and the newly discovered Crisis.C would literally be the only two OS X malware on any up-to-date active Mac malware list at this moment. Therefore, I prefer simple blog posting alerts about new malware.

How we process a painting and effects achieved with different tools really is one of the more fascinating aspects of art. Our tools can take an ordinary subject and make it extraordinary. No question we can stay with a single process or art movement, improve and make good art all of our lives, but will it ever become extraordinary?
For me, this year is about change, moving off the line from my norm....perhaps looking for extraordinary. Nine months in, my output has dropped from previous years, partly due to experimentation and enormous canvases. My curiosity wants to know the outcome. In the meantime, as my course becomes more defined, its easy to know what didnt workout.
Ive also come to realize moving off the line is changing my process, including some of my tools.... and carrying over into my representational style. Can I or should I keep them separated? Change has implication because Artist/Designers have a tendency to create and destroy... also part of the process......

Trafalgar Fountain was one of my attempts at "moving off the line" and another one going no where! I like the subject and think staying with a "less-is-more" painting approach is the way to go. No question this thing needs less of everything! My first step will be to remove the chaos.

O fim da minha ressaca literária ou apenas uma trégua
Há algumas postagens atrás comentei sobre o fato de eu não estar conseguindo ler mais nada além algumas histórias em quadrinhos de temática mais adulta, disse que até andei comprando uns livros, mas deixando-os mofar na estante da sala de casa. Acredito que os tenha comprado mais como uma forma de consumismo sem sentido, com o intuito de aplacar um pouco minha depressão, ou simplesmente para poder dizer, "se fulano tem, eu também quero ter", já que vivo me sentindo sempre inferior a todo mundo, em todos os sentidos, o tempo todo. O que sei é que, dos ralos objetivos que costumo traçar vez sim, vez não para minha vida, voltar a ler é um deles e eu preciso começar de algum ponto, por isso decidi me propor um desafio e também usar o blog para algo mais útil do que ficar chorando pelo Levi, pelo Ricardo, pelo Paulinho e tantos outros que já passaram pela minha vida e hoje, por escolha deles não fazem mais parte dela.
Não sou nenhum exímio crítico literário e nem tenho pretensão de o ser, externo minhas opiniões sobre alguma obra, seja um livro, filme ou história em quadrinhos de forma leiga e nada profissional, mas gosto de comentar, do meu jeito, sobre as impressões que tenho das coisas que experimento, vivencio. Vou começar minhas críticas amadoras então, falando de duas obras que li recentemente, uma por indicação de um colega de trabalho e a outra porque, num dia desses, a toa numa livraria aqui da cidade, olhando livros aleatoriamente e lendo seus resumos, identifiquei-me em partes com o personagem central e decidi comprá-lo, num ato totalmente espontâneo e despretensioso.
Embora ainda não tenha lido o já citado Astronauta (pretendo fazê-lo assim que possível), o que me impede de comparar essa versão do Chico Bento com os outros livros da coleção, logo de cara pude perceber algo que me agradou demais e que, pesquisando por cima, pude constatar estra presente também nas outras histórias desse projeto: a liberdade criativa que Maurício de Sousa deu aos artistas, fazendo com que as histórias se tornassem muito autorais.

Sinopse
Tinha tudo para ser mais uma noite tranquila na Vila Abobrinha. Mas Chico Bento, o seu primo Zé Lelé, o porco Torresmo e a galinha Giserda acabam abduzidos por alienígenas que têm planos sinistros.
Estou em férias do escritório e da universidade e, consequentemente, sem absolutamente nada de útil ou divertido para fazer da vida e ocupar esse meu tempo de ócio e, embora eu seja a simpatia em forma de ser humano, a verdade é que não tenho amigos. Para os poucos que se dizem meus amigos, a sensação que tenho é que faço pouca ou praticamente nenhuma falta. Recebo muito raramente um convite aqui, outro ali, mas não me sinto realmente necessário na vida dessas pessoas, são aqueles casos os quais, eu aceitando tais convites ou não, em nada mudará a vida do outro, ela não ficará mais triste ou com menos graça, e confesso egoisticamente que é isso que eu gostaria que acontecesse. Mas voltando a falar do livro: para aliviar meu tédio, no dia 28 de dezembro do ano passado estava caminhando e, revoltado com muitas coisas que andam me acontecendo, resolvi entrar em uma livraria famosa daqui da cidade de Bauru, disposto a comprar um livro, fosse ele qual fosse (desde que o assunto me cativasse, é claro), para retomar meu gosto pelas letras. Odeio a literatura do meu próprio país, não importa o quanto digam que ela é culta e rica, ler romances nacionais sempre me causaram um certo asco, um cansaço extremo, talvez isso se tenha dado por conta de ter sido obrigado a ler tantos no ginasial e colegial. Entrei na livraria e fui diretamente à estante de romances internacionais. De início pensei em adquirir um desses títulos famosos, comentados na mídia, a coleção dos Jogos Vorazes, quem sabe, ou talvez alguma coisa curta do Stephen King mesmo, se é que existe algum romance dele curto, mas eu sempre fui muito preso aos mesmos autores, sempre segui a moda do momento e portanto achei melhor variar um pouco, buscar algo do qual nunca tenha ouvido falar, um escritor desconhecido pra mim. Comecei a correr os olhos pelas estantes, olhando os títulos, as capas, lendo uma ou outra sinopse, muitas me pareceram bem interessantes. Por um segundo pude sentir o quanto de tempo andei desperdiçando não lendo nada. Uma pergunta pra quem lê a mais tempo que eu: é chamado de "sinopse" mesmo aquele resumo do romance que sempre fica na contracapa dos livros ou isso só se aplica aos filmes? Aguardo respostas.
A trégua é um romance publicado originalmente em 1960, escrito por Mario Benedetti, nascido em 1920 em Paso de los Toros, Uruguai. O livro conta a história de Martín Santomé, descrito pelo autor como "um homem maduro, de muita bondade, meio apegado, mas inteligente".
Prestes a completar 50 anos, viúvo há mais de vinte, Santomé mora com os três filhos. Não se relaciona bem com nenhum deles, tem pouco amigos e mantém uma rotina cinzenta, sem sobressaltos (tirando a parte dos filhos, foi esse o ponto do resumo da obra que mais me chamou a atenção, por motivos de identificação). O livro é escrito em formato de diário e nesse diário ele conta os dias que faltam para sua aposentadoria; mas não tem ideia do que fará assim que se livrar do trabalho massante.
Porém, seu destino muda quando ele conhece Laura Avellaneda, uma jovem discreta e tímida contratada para ser sua subalterna. Com ela, Santomé voltará a conhecer o amor, numa luminosa trégua para uma vida até então taciturna e opaca.
O livro é relativamente curto, 180 páginas, comprei-o no sábado, 28 de dezembro, e terminei de ler todo ele na tarde de 1º de janeiro. Uma das primeiras coisas que me cativou na leitura foi o fato do romance ser escrito em primeira pessoa, no formato de um diário, sem longos capítulos, nas paginas ele apenas narra seus dias, de forma curta e direta, alguns em duas páginas, outros em apenas duas linhas, achei isso "inovador", talvez porque até hoje não tenha lido nada com um formato parecido. Em minha opinião particular isso tornou a leitura bem leve.
Pra minha surpresa fiquei bastante preso ao livro, bom, pelo menos na primeira metade dele, já explico isso. Cheguei em casa, tomei um banho, sentei-me no sofá e quando vi, já haviam se passado quase três horas, eu já havia devorado mais de setenta páginas e ainda por cima fazendo algo que nunca fiz, com uma caneta marca-texto ao meu lado, grifando os trechos com os quais mais me identifiquei.
Embora eu tenha pesquisado e lido que esse livro é famosíssimo tanto quanto seu escritor, não achei lá grandes coisas, no geral, gostei sim, gostei bastante, senti-me bastante preso em alguns momentos, publicando meus trechos favoritos nas redes sociais, como se alguém fosse dar importância a isso, mas como disse acima, o caso é que a leitura só me foi 100% agradável até a primeira metade da trama.
Antes de conhecer Avellaneda, Santomé fala muito de si mesmo, refletindo não apenas sobre si e sua solidão, seus medos e temores, mas sobre a vida de um modo geral. Durante toda essa narrativa praticamente pintei as páginas com o amarelo da caneta luminosa, desatacando uma passagem atrás de outra. Contudo (e eu acho que já esperava isso, devido ao meu estado emocional atual), comecei a achar a leitura bastante monótona e cansativa depois que Avellaneda entra na vida de Santomé, me comprovando algo que ainda hoje tenho certa vergonha de admitir: em se tratando de romance e amor, a felicidade dos outros me deixa muito infeliz, uma inveja maligna e destrutiva mesmo.
O livro não se tornou menos bem escrito ou interessante, mas mais chato, pois grande parte dos dias de Santomé passaram a se focar em Avellaneda e em seus sentimentos por ela, uma coisa piegas, clichê e antiga (lógico que tenho convicção, meus sentimentos pessoais com certeza interferem numa análise justa do livro, talvez isso melhore com o tempo). Tudo o que eu estava gostando até a primeira metade do livro foi desaparecendo a medida em que Santomé e Avellaneda se aproximavam mais e assumiam seu amor um pelo outro. Daí em diante o diário do protagonista se transformou um pouco (digo um pouco, porque ainda assim manteve um pouco da introspecção e da autoanálise que tanto me conquistou), passando Santomé a narrar seu amor pela moçoila, fazendo planos para conquistá-la.
Todavia é inegável de minha parte dizer que o final me surpreendeu, embora não muito diferente de várias coisas que já li e assisti, admito que mexeu comigo, não cheguei a chorar ou me emocionar profundamente, talvez justamente pelo motivo que já citei, essa coisa de amor dramático, hoje posso comprovar, é rotina.
Apesar de todas essas minhas reclamações, as quais admito novamente são de ordem puramente pessoal e sentimental, termino essa minha tosca análise dizendo que acho que escolhi um ótimo livro pra recomeçar. Pretendo algum dia relê-lo, com menos rancor e mágoa no coração e ver se tenho sensações diferentes, mas sensações ruins a parte, A trégua é um excelente livro e, acima do fato de eu ter gostado dele ou não, estou feliz por ter conseguido ler um livro inteiro, do começo ao fim e em tão pouco tempo.. É isso.
